Christian Therapy in Rockville, Maryland
There are times in our lives where we may struggle. It is part of being human. We are sad, discouraged or feeling down. We also may be fighting with loved ones. This is so hard. Sometimes it is fear that is taking a hold of us. Fear or anxious thoughts steal your peace. We get it. David struggled many times, Salomon had depression, Job was affected by life events and got disheartened. No matter how much you love God and how much He loves you--sometimes life is tough.
You hope that counseling can help you find your ground again. But you wonder if a secular therapist can really help you. You may have concerns that they will prescribe a different worldview than the one you believe. That's where we come in. We share a similar background with you- the Christian perspective.
Romans 12:2 states "do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of our mind, that by testing we may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (italics mine). Secular counseling can be effective. Yet, it does not integrate the will of God, (what is good, acceptable and perfect) into your life. Evidenced -based counseling with Christian beliefs does that.
When you come to us for Christian counseling we may use bible verses. We ask biblical questions to clarify your spiritual beliefs. We may remind you of biblical stories and ask how you believe they are be related to your life circumstances. Plus we use evidence based- research treatment to achieve your goals. Basically we offer you the best of both worlds. We often think of our clients during the week and will say a prayer for them, for successful treatment, for improvement, for healing. We pray for God to do what we can't-- to give you the ability to heal or grow.
We welcome clients of all faiths, backgrounds and cultures. Our focus are clients with a Judeo-Christian worldview or background. We support you. We won't bring up spirituality or faith unless you tell us that you want those to be part of your therapy. We believe in free will. You have a right to use your values in all areas of your life. There are many types of Christian therapists. There are those who are Christians and therapists. They may only use only secular counseling. Then, there are therapists who only provide biblical counseling. Sometimes these are called Pastoral Counselors. Then there are people like us. Therapists who do both secular and Christian counseling. As such we honor people's desire and goals for their therapy.
